HARVARD LAW REVIEW BLOG

UX, Design & WordPress Development

We are more than honored to have had the opportunity to work with such an esteemed institution. Harvard Law Review is a student-run organization whose primary purpose is to publish a journal of legal scholarship. Their main website, http://harvardlawreview.org, is a highly refined, well annotated, exemplary specimen of scholarly articles with over eighty Board of Editors members.

CHALLENGE

We aspired to design a platform, worthy of presenting the thoughts of senators, Harvard professors, and many notable public figures including the U.S. Attorney General. Their goal was to provide a faster means of distributing more timely content. Compared to the heavily footnoted, heavily edited content on the main Review that takes many months to produce, the blog provides a less limiting format for their vast network of contributors.

PLAN OF ATTCK

Adhering to the minimalistic layout and beautifully technical typographical treatment of the Review was the fun part. Rethinking the user experience to support new content categories, author profiles, and navigation workflows was the easy part. Building it all into a tight package that works perfectly across every device on a tight timeline and budget… that’s where our expertise shines.

Anyone can make a website, but designing and building a bespoke experience for a world-renowned brand and executing perfectly on time takes a team with experience. That’s why respected clients like Harvard come to us.

STYLE GUIDE

As is standard practice with any visual design work we do, our style guide provides a complete overview of font faces, styles, colors, etc. as well as context and component usage.

One of the most prestigious legal journals in the nation, the Law Review boasts a powerful alumni base including former U.S. President Barack Obama and Supreme Court Justices John G. Roberts, Jr. ’76 and Elena Kagan, a former Dean of the Law School.

RESULT

The new HLR Blog launched with an array of notable authors, now part of a group of over thirty contributors who have produced over fifty articles since October. It’s an absolute pleasure to see such support and activity for such an influential cause and we look forward to sharing content for hundreds of years to come.
